They are small wingless insects and are external parasites that feed on the blood of warm-blooded animals. 

Fleas can jump up to 8 inches high and can jump 100 times their own body length. So they can be found on the skin, in the hair and in beds.

 Flea bites cause itchy red bumps on the skin.

Pets are the usual source, but not always, of  fleas. It is important to have pets treated by a professional groomer and keep on a maintenance program.
